Fuel transactions paid via credit card incur fuel surcharge. If one uses bank linked UPI there is no surcharge.
Do we get charged the fuel surcharge if paid via Rupay credit card linked UPI? (this is not considering the policies of getting it waived later)
My guess here is that UPI is just a medium of using the credit card, i.e. instead of using a POS machine, one uses a smartphone and QR code. Whatever T&C applies to the credit card (as if one swiped it on a POS machine) will apply if paid via UPI too.

Coral Rupay CC T&C says
Waiver of 1% fuel surcharge on Rs 5,000 spent every month on fuel@
@ 1% fuel surcharge waiver, where the transaction amount is more than Rs 400 and up to Rs 4,000 with maximum monthly capping of Rs 250 at all HPCL petrol pumps.
It seems to depend bank to bank. HDFC in my experience doesn't charge fuel surcharge on upi credit yet.
It depends on bank to bank. HDFC is not charging surcharge while Kotak and Union Bank are charging 1%
You are talking about any particular HDFC Rupay CC, or in general? Since T&C of every credit card is different.
Axis doesn't charge.
So till now:
Axis, Icici, HDFC are not charging anything extra
Now both my SBI and Axis RuPay credit cards are charging surcharge for credit card UPI at fuel station 😭
I got multiple charges when I used my BOB RUPAY Credit card under 400 ₹multiple times,I didn't know that it was attracting charges.
This is exactly what I am talking about. People think UPI linked with Rupay credit card is identical to the classic bank linked UPI (which is a zero fees system). And this thought has been propagated nicely to masses by NCPI.
UPI as the name says is just an interface, whatever actual payment mode happens at the back will follow its own course.
INDIANOIL direct charge adds surcharge silently to settled txn on neu infinity, didnt try upi yet for fuel/gas...
Once i paid 150 to the petrol pump from the icici coral rupay card, no extra money was charged.
