Price of Domestic LPG Cylinder (weighing 14.2 kg) increased by ₹25.50
Price of Commercial Cylinder (19 kg cylinder) has also been hiked by ₹76.
The oil marketing companies (OMCs) such as BPCL, HPCL and IOCL have raised the cooking gas (LPG – Liquefied Petroleum Gas) price by ₹25.5 each per 14.2 kg cylinder effective from July 1, 2021.. The price of commercial cylinder has also been hiked by ₹76.
Notably, LPG prices had gone up by ₹240.50 per 14.2-kg cylinder in the last 7 months
LPG prices were hiked first by ₹50 per cylinder on December 1, 2020, followed by a ₹50 per cylinder increase on on December 16, 2020 and ₹25 on February 4 and ₹50 on February 15 and a ₹25 raise on February 25 and March 1, 2021.
On April 1, after raising cooking gas prices by ₹225 per cylinder, state-owned oil firms announced a ₹10 per cylinder cut in LPG rates on softening international oil prices.
LPG is available only at one rate, market price, across the country. The government, however, gives a small subsidy to select customers. However, this subsidy has been eliminated in metros and major cities through successive price increases over the past couple of years.
