Just checked my Internet speed on internet and it shows it between 5-8 Mbps. I am using Airtel 4g sim. I use it as a hotspot for wfh and it sometimes struggles. Should I buy this fiber plan?

198 plan is add-on plan with existing Jio fiber plan or standalone plan ?

Most streaming platforms in India don't seem to employ very high bitrates. So this easily should suffice for 1080p streaming. Personally this plan is well suited to our purpose of connecting the CCTV to internet in the premises we have rented out. 

Beware of taking Jio set top box for watching live channels or OTT content. Even after taking Rs.200 per month for OTT subscription, Jio is unethically insertimg its own ads while switching channels, watching live TV or even while watching OTT content. And there is no way to skip Jio inserted ads. Very frustrating to watch live channels or OTT content on jio fiber.

Like jio trying to get more customers. Once small operators are left. They will double the prices.

So many people are complaining 10 MBPS is too slow! Internet speeds in MBPS is a bit like camera resolution in MP (megapixels). It matters but is not directly proportional to the acrual quality/experience. There's something called latency and obviously stability too. I'm in IT and I've found even a 2MBPS MTNL connection rather good for working on a remote desktop (VDI) even with another household member on a Zoom or streaming 720p video. It is in the interest of Jio and Airtel to tell you to use a higher plan if you are going to use many devices. Don't trust them. First take the cheapest plan, try some patience, and see if it works. Then upgrade one step at a time. If you are too rich then you wouldn't be on DD and if you are being reimbursed for your Internet don't waste your time reading this.

Those who have jio  prepaid bb connection please keep us updated if 198 plan showing in ur recharge portal as someone told me this is only for postpaid connection

So the benefit is for postpaid users, then why charging installation charges...just do the math brother it's almost same you'll have to pay ₹1,668 and will get 5 months of 10mbps internet, so it's ₹333/month

And before we were getting 1 month free on 6 month plan without any installation charges, so that's summed up to ₹402/month

Saving of ₹70 for less speed doesn't seems fair compromise.

Can anyone confirm whether Hotstar premium/ Hotstar super is providing as part of ott in jopfiber backup plan(599)?

This is killer move. Will shake dth and cable tv market.

Biggest hurdle..., It's wired connection so available at very few places. I had to opt for bsnl fiber and fought like hell to get free installation done since jio fiber and airtel, both aren't available at my location, which is kind of heart of the city.

Airtel, jio target big societies, townships so they get 100s of customers with minimal efforts.
