A government panel has been constituted to conduct a mix-and-match trial of vaccines, including study whether a single-dose Covishield – the vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India (SII) – can provide enough immunity against COVID-19, a report said on May 31.

Vaccine shortage is not only in India but around the world. Just had a word with my cousin who is in Germany, he says he will be receiving vaccine in July.
Because 2.16 billion doses by December 2021 is another JUMLA by this Masterstroke Govt.

I feel soon government would consider alternative desperate forms of Vaccination.
Give every healthy young individual a small dose of Corona virus variant from first wave 🌊 and hope they don’t die and develop some immunity against COVID.
The same method of getting inflected with less lethal variant of small pox was used few hundred years ago before rise of modern medicine.
Or they could just dilute the vaccination dosage upto 1000% percentage and assure everyone it works.

Whenever the biggest supplier/producer country of vaccines in the world starts importing the vaccine from other countries in place of exporting, the imbalance around the world is bound to happen. Shortage of vaccines will be happening and can’t runaway from the mismanagement.

Desperate measures with these worthless studies to tackle the vaccine shortage problem!
But in India we will cry and blame the government, this our birth right……..
The failed state of affairs is government’s responsibility. How could you not calculate or study your own country’s requirements and instead, merrily keep exporting the vaccine around the world?
SII has commitments with AZ. Nobody could have stopped them from exporting vaccine.
And about the USA. Please check their population, GDP, per capita earning. Comparing the USA with India is irrelevant.
In India, there are people from rural who still hesitate in taking vaccines. Also, one should not ignore where State governments were declining to use Covaxin.
About China, one can see the videos where there is so much crowd( don’t know about their credibility).
And talking about Pfizer and Moderna in India. What are they demanding? Vaccination without trials? No legal liabilities. Taking papers of army bases as a guarantee. We are not among third world countries anymore.

We always had an option to delay the exports ( which is what we essentially did during last week of March ).. its just we didn’t feel like our people needs to get vaccinated until the Covid+ cases started rising all over the country

No one is comparing India to US
By this logic, does your post mean.. you’re comparing us with germany?
Your post mentioned there is vaccine shortage all around the world.. and so the references of US & China
And as far as US is concerned, their vaccine stock could vaccinate their entire population at least thrice.. they also got criticized because of the excess stock and why they weren’t lending out the vaccine stock to other countries

One should plan better with the options we got " COVAXIN & COVISHIELD " and then think of the non-available options
As of now, COVISHIELD output is at 6 crore while COVAXIN is at 2 Crore & guess what people of india never had an option to pick which vaccine they should get.. so it doesn’t matter
