the thing is if you check reviews for lets say atomberg the last year reviews are mostly one with issues while the earlier ones are positive. so not sure if the quality has gone down due to price pressure or if its multiple bad batches

After reading quite a few old post, reddit and scavenging other forums on internet. I am still in confusion if to buy 5-6 new bldc fans or not. So creating another thread for BLDC fans. 😅
From what I see BLDC has advantage of 35 W compared to 50-52W 1 star normal fans. Recovering their extra cost in an year and then everything after that is profit. But it seems there are too much issues with these fans. there are pcb and new motors in these which if goes kaput after warranty will cost nearly same as the savings you made on electricity and still local electricians are unable to fix these. If you ever face an issue you will have to call service center so there will be visiting charges and wait time of who knows how many days.
Considering that in my scenario there is rarely a electricity cut of even a day its barely few hour and that only in extreme summer of june otherwise nothing, I am not in major city expecting strong and quick service center support, electricity costs average of 4-7 rs per unit and on average my usage is 2 fans 24x7.
To me it doesn't make much sense to have basic necessity like fan to be tied with PCB's and then have another remote just in favor of electricity saving after 1 or 2 years. Also who knows maybe after 2 years solar installation at home would be so cheap and easy that electricity cost won't matter.
So what I want to know based on experience of folks using these, are these future savings really worth the future (and maybe present) headache to deal with these fans.
I think I can just buy normal fans wait for an year if these fans may get even cheaper and the reliability improves I can just exchange my old fans and get them at nearly same price for some rooms.
Following thread, even I want to know. Are they really worth it for the price?
I have experience with crompton and havells.
They are trouble makers. Stay away. Now i am struggling with crompton bldc which i bought last year june, that came with 5yrs warranty. 5 days back it stopped working and technician came today checked and said Sensor pcb gone and its not covered in warranty, infact it comes with 6 months warranty is what he was telling. He said it will cost me 650/- after taking my old PCB and no service charges.
Man! Its 5200 fan and PCB is what goes bad always and they have only 6 months warranty on it and 5yrs warranty on winding. Ridiculous.
Problems:
Both havells and crompton fans run only on speed 4. Any other speed they slow down and speed up intermittently which will be very annoying.
Our electrician has also taken up automber service and he said most replaced part is PCB.
So my suggestion Stay Away
If someone says i am using it for 3yrs etc, believe his luck but not BLDC.
Buy normal fan and enjoy. I spent 15000 last year on 3 bldc fans and i still regret that all turned the same irrespective of brand 😞
I have 5 Atomberg BLDC fans and have been using them since Jan 2019. Varied models/sizes available at that time.
Till date, no issues so I would safely recommend Atomberg. However I will not install these 'PCB' based fans if I don't have inverter or in a sense frequent power cuts/fluctuations.
For me they worth for 2 reasons.
1. Save electricity
2. Eat up less inverter backup in case of power failure.
Here is wattage v/s size for non-bldc ceiling fans. Most common size is 48-inch and they eat up 75 watts.
I vouch for the same, and holding more than 5 and after sales support so good
If your room is small or using fan along with AC in summer then only go for bldc otherwise take normal fans with good rpm
I have an atomberg running from 3 years, now out of warranty. No issues so far.
Also holding a 2.5 year old fan from superfan brand. It has 5 year warranty and my pcb was damaged recently , its our fault. I haven't mentioned that it is happened due to my mistake, they replaced it for free.
What I love is getting those extra hours while running on inverter. Go for brands having longer period covered
Remember, every brand holds fucking customer support. It takes around a week to fix any problem
@Bhawin your take on this as you bought one recently
Yes, they did reduce my electricity bill if your fans are on throught the day.
Dont just replace your regular fans to BLDC for power saving
If cuurent one is near end of life, go for it; if setting up new place surely go for it
Note the above comment OP.
I'm using 4 atomberg fans from 3 years. No issues so far.
Bldc fans with remote makes operation easy and convenient.
Other than that copper winding repair cost in previous generation capacitor fans is similar to PCB repair cost mentioned above.
Go for BLDc if you have stable voltage & calibre to adopt new technology.
Stick to previous generation if you believe old is gold
10/10 to atomberg bldc fans . Using since 2020 . No problem so far
the thing is if you check reviews for lets say atomberg the last year reviews are mostly one with issues while the earlier ones are positive. so not sure if the quality has gone down due to price pressure or if its multiple bad batches
Atomberg is the KING .
Turning all BLDC is good initiative towards saving electricity .
Using atomberg without any issues for past 5 +yrs they rock ....not a single issue all these years ....real Paisa vasool
Atomberg rocks no issue since 2020 never bothered to check even for customer care no....
Using Atomberg renesa since 3 years; zero issues as of now.
Got another bldc recently & went with orient electric since I just wanted to try a different brand. too early to review this one!
but does less heating have much effect i don't think that much heating will heat up the air and cause warm air throw?
also if you don't mind which product specifically you are using and how much estimated electricity savings you have observed
well if you have regular fans consuming only 50-52 watts power then why bother? it's for those who have much older fans, like in the 90 watt category, from mid 80s and 90s. yeah all our fans are that old, and yes, they all work. So indeed, no headache. But, to me, it is a crime to use something like a fan, which runs like 12-18 hrs a day with that much power consumption, especially with the cost of electricity (where do you have 4 rs per unit man?)
So yeah in that regard going the BLDC route is much more practical. And the user above said about the heat, well that's a big advantage as well, especially while using the fan with AC. But, like you said, the PCB and all that might be troublemaking in long run. Now which company to choose is the biggest confusion, but generally going with the time tested ones is the wiser option.
Another advantage of BLDC is
1. No sound on inverter. Traditional fan makes weird noise on inverte. BLDC makes no difference and you won't even notice when load transferred to inverter.
2. Timer setting: when using fan with AC, the room gets colder after midnight, you can set timer to switch off fan after say 2-3 AM or alternatively you can fix timer both AC and fan, ac be switched off at midnight and fan on
Yes, using from 3 years. Power saving. Remote access.
Atomberg and Superfan both are good. I'm owning both of these brands from 2019 onwards.
Superfan had one time issue with board but the support was very good they replaced it without any questions.Perks of having 5 years of warranty.
Currently I'm owning 7 bldc fans which helps in reducing the electricity.
Best thing is to relocate yourself to either Karnataka or Telangana so that your entire electricity bill will become zero
had 2 atomberg fans from 3 years+ ,one of the bedroom fans stopped working ,bought 2 new atomberg metallic paint ones(dust free) to replace ones in both bedrooms.1.5 years back for new construction bought 5 new fans .All working perfectly fine without any issues.faced some random speed decease and increase sometimes, but simply switching the fan off and on solved the issues
What is your budget? If you are looking for premium range fans, you will get it only in bldc.
I didn't have good experience with Atomberg, they make it kat kat noise which is irritating. currently have havells and orient bldc.
I am using Atomberg from last 3-4 years, without any issues.
I have experience with crompton and havells.
