Jio has its own Jio Rail App? That’s the same question (& probably the same facial expression) we had when we first came across the news of the Jio Rail app circulating online. Fortunately (or not), the Jio Rail app does exist and as per reports, users can book confirmed tickets, check PNR status & use other facilities. If you plan to download the Jio Rail app, you might be bumped to know that the Jio Rail App download option is only available for Jio Phone users. Nevertheless, here’s what the Jio Rail App features are, how to book tickets on it and where can users download the Jio Rail app.

There’s no confirmed official launch date of the Jio Rail app but reports suggest that the Rail app by Jio was most likely launched in the year 2019. The railway ticket booking app by Jio is built in partnership with IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation).

Users can easily book their train tickets on the app and avoid standing in long queues, paying agents fees or visiting the IRCTC website.

But the major drawback is that the app is only available for Reliance Jio Phone users. This means even if you have a Jio SIM card but not a Jio Phone (feature phone by Jio) you still cannot use or download the Jio Rail app as of yet.

• Language Support: Customers can use the Jio railway ticket booking app in both Hindi and English languages

• Travel History: View travel history within the app.

• Railway Information: The app offers information about railway stations, trains, and fare details

• Book Tatkal quota tickets: Users can also book railway tickets under the Tatkal quota on the Jio Rail App.

To book tickets on the Jio Rail app, users need to follow the steps given below:

1. Open the Jio Rail app on your Jio Phone

2. Enter your Jio Phone number and submit the OTP to verify

3. Enter the boarding station & destination station

4. Select the date of travel

5. Select the train and seat as per your requirements

6. Complete the payment to book your train ticket on the Jio Rail app

Jio Rail App is available to download for those who have a Jio Phone. Those special Jio customers using the Jio feature phones can visit the Jio app store on their mobile phones. After visiting the Jio app store, users can download the Jio Rail app pretty easily.

While the Jio Rail app looks promising for booking railway tickets on the go, it's an “available to some, not for many” sort of a show, at least as of now. Currently, there are 5 top players in the feature phones market namely Nokia, Itel, Lava, Samsung, and Jio (in order of high market share to low).

While Jio is among the top 5 feature phone brands in India, it isn’t quite there yet. Hence, the Jio Rail app being available to download for only Jio Phone users means it is only limited to a few users in India as compared to the masses.
