Hi,

Did any member tried sending parcel via Speed Post? I want to send a parcel to Chennai.

Can anyone tell me how to do it? What all details are required? Am I supposed to fill any form at the post office? Please guide me. I haven’t done it anytime.

Thanks in advance.

Just pack the parcel in well manner. Write down the address & contact no. of sender n receiver.
There is no form filling process in post office. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Step one – Safely and securely pack your item in an envelope ;preferably in tamper proof envelope

Use bubble wraps for added protection in case shipping fragile items.

A tamper proof package should look like this – https://i.imgur.com/mWIRu3g.jpg

Step two – use lot of packaging tapes and staples ; simply make your shipment tamper proof and make sure andar ka maal [if expensive] is non visible

step 3 – write the receivers name ,address and mobile number in clear bold letters and below it write senders [yours] name address and mobile number]

example – https://i.imgur.com/VUm3t4f.jpg

step 4 – visit any post office near your home ; patiently wait in the queue for your turn at the counter
Opt for insurance if needed
Pay the amount and get back home ;; Safely keep that receipt that you will receive to track your orders

use this link to calculate approximate amount you will have to pay – http://www.indiapost.gov.in/speedpos...px

Use this website for tracking your shipments – http://www.indiapost.gov.in/speednettrackin...px

Note – Do not worry in case you are not able to track your items or the delivery is delayed.
Speedpost takes time to update the status and shipment delays are common with speed post.

it should look something like this

ps – Use private couriers instead of speed post if available

Might seem a silly question. But is it necessary to mention complete senders address?

You can enter any sender name & address, but it is useful in case – when the parcel is undelivered, it is returned back to the sender’s address (free of cost).

They wouldn’t send any proof of delivery by themselves, however, you can request it from the post office if you want.

Yup

In case op is still concerned about his privacy and is not comfortable giving away his details at least the mobile number written should be correct
The post office guys would call him ( in case of non delivery ) and ask him to collect the courier personally from the post office.
