So I have a question to tech enthusiasts in DD.
Which browser you prefer on Android?, which is the most efficient one according to you?
Comment down below...

By Efficiency I mean,
  • How much is the storage consumption?.
  • How much battery it consumes based on your usage?.
  • How much ram it consumes in idle?
  • Does it reloads everytime you switch the app?

I personally prefer Vivaldi, after testing out many browsers myself 🤔
Usage as follows.
Storage: 500 mb as of using it for 2-3 weeks.
Battery: usually below 10% even after heavy usage.
In memory: It doesn't reloads if I use 2 apps side my side, but if I do it for long, OneUI just closes the browser sweat_smile

I've been using Firefox for 2 years and it is still my daily driver both on laptop and android. Light on memory usages and battery.

Prior to firefox, I was using the internet explorer on laptop and kiwi browser on android. I really hate the chrome because of the limited customizations and no support for extensions.

I'm slowly slowly ditching the Google services and switching to the alternatives. For instance- Samsung notes both synch with my Galaxy book 2 pro and Galaxy S22, backing up the photos and videos on Microsoft's one drive also in case something goes wrong with Google photos. Outlook, yahoo are still my primary emails. Gmail is just for youtube and some G drive backup stuffs. Youtube is something which is still irreplaceable.

Ya true. Firefox is indeed light, but I did find that many a times firefox reloads itself when switched 🤕

Does it happened to you?

For downloading videos and movies, I prefer chrome but Microsoft edge has also provided copilot features like AI which is very useful if you searches for theoretical information.

Which is best for privacy? I know none will fully protect. But still better one.

Also pls share if anyone has idea of cheapest VPN. I have tried 24 month sub as part of friends sharing. I no longer use that, so need inputs. TIA

Go with Proton VPN. None other than Proton VPN can provide you best privacy even with Free version.

If you can afford , you can opt for paid version.

The problem I feel in the android world of browsers is,

These browsers don't use android's built in webview engine (chromium) and use their own coupled webview.

As a result, these browsers become very bulky in size. Notable browsers which use built in webview are Google chrome (like ofcourse joy), via, and duckduckgo as per me..

These browsers merely weigh around 8-20 mb while others go all the way to 70-100 mbs in size 🤯.

In iOS, apple has made it mandatory to use built in safari engine for webpage rendering and hence everything works so well there 🫠
